64 bit VirtualBox being read as 32 bit?

I have tried to get the 64 bit version of Ubuntu to run on The latest version of virtual box. Before anyone asks, my host os is Vista home Premium 64 bit. I double checked that to make sure. I have downloaded the 64 bit client for virtual box, twice to make sure, and am running an AMD Quad Core with 64 bit support. I have 6 gigs of ram as well.
However, no matter what settings I change in vb, it still claims it is only 32 bit, and won't install. I then tried to load up windows 7 beta, the only other 64 bit OS I have, and it again was recognizing it as 32 bit, and couldn't install. I would really like to try both of these OS and am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if it is a flaw in the software.
Thanks for the help.
