I currently have VirtualBox 2.1.0 with Ubuntu 8.10 as host and Ubuntu Server 8.10 as guest.
I want to access a development server in the guest from the host. I tried attaching the guest to the host interface, by pointing the browser to http://127.0.0.1:8000/, but that failed. I then attached the network adapter on the guest to NAT and forwarded the 8000 port. After that I could see the 8000 port open with a port scan on 127.0.0.1, but after trying to access the address from my browser I get this:
"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again."
Am I missing something?

With HIF, you need to connect to the IP of the VM, not to localhost from the Host.
NAT port forwarding is broken in 2.1.0, so don't use it.
