I am going to install virtual box on my windows xp .
I will then install linux as the guest os.
I have created a separate drive (G:) for the installation of ubuntu.
So what do I need to do so as to acess other drives (C,D etc) on the pc that belong to xp but not to the ubuntu.

You can install the Guest Additions and access the drives using Shared Folders, or you can install the Samba client packages so you can mount the network shares of XP on your Guest. For the GA and Shared Folders, see the manual and VirtualBox FAQ.
