VB 2.1 screen resolution problem in lenny

Post by websurfer »

Hello.

I tried VirtualBox 2.1 in my host Debian Lenny AMD 64bits, all runs really well, except screen resolution.
My host is 1680*1050 and my virtualbox max resolution in WindowsXP SP3 as guest is 1152*864

I tried:

VBoxManage controlvm "Machine1" setvideomodehint 1680 1050 32

But nothing change, I have installed guest additions.

How can I do for have WindowsXP at 1680*1050? Looking in monitor properties and see a list of screen mode
supported the max screen resolution is 1152*864 at 32 bits (what is used)

Any help will be appreciated.

Did you actually install the GA on the Guest? Did you also enable dynamic resize of the Guest Window in the Machine menu? Then maximize the Guest window, or go to full screen, and it should resize. Only in fullscreen is it capable of your native resolution.

GA menu

Post by websurfer »

Hello.

I have GA installed, but...where is the option of "enable dynamic resize of the Guest Window "? I'm looking for this option and is impossible to found!

Is in the guest menu or inside? I was "googlishing" and was reading this, but I checked all several times without sucess:(

Thanks

Start the VM, then in the Machine menu you see the option to resize the Guest Window Size. Make sure that is enabled. Shortcut is Host + G.
