Hi,
I have VBox in ubuntu 8.10, runing virtually Win XP and Ubuntu 8.10. each machine has a single network interface, configured as Internal Network. I configured manually both IP's [(Win: 192.168.0.2 netmask: 255.255.255.0 - no DNS, no gateway-), (Ubuntu: 192.168.0.3 netmask: 255.255.255.0 -no DNS, no gateway-)].
the problem is that I can make a ping from WinXP to Ubuntu, but, I can't form Ubuntu to WinXP.
any idea of what cold be happening?
Thankyou
Ernesto.

How do you ping? On IP or Hostname? Ping on Hostname from Ubuntu won't work, because it doesn't pick up the Windows broadcast of it's hostname through the NetBUI protocol.
And, did you disable the Xp firewall? It blocks ping by default.
