On the left system properties of the vista host, dual core detected.
On the right XP guest also dual core detected ???

Ok, but why is there then a hal problem ? anyone from development care to explain this ?Sasquatch wrote:It's normal that it detects the dual core CPU, but VB will only address one CPU when the VM is working.
If you get a BSOD, then there is something else wrong with your hardware. I upgraded my PC last year from a single core to a dual core CPU, and it detected the new CPU, installed the multiprocessor kernel, wanted to reboot and everything was fine.vbox4me2 wrote:Ok, but why is there then a hal problem ? anyone from development care to explain this ?Sasquatch wrote:It's normal that it detects the dual core CPU, but VB will only address one CPU when the VM is working.
Ie.:
1. detect dual core, but install single core hal, finish install and (re)detect a dualcore while running a single core hal without a bsod... If I do this on real hardware you always get a bsod when intermixing the wrong kernal.
