Hard disk already attached to .... ????

Post by contess »

I am getting this error when trying to start a VM:

Code: Select all

Hard disk '/home/suwan/.VirtualBox/VDI/XP.vdi' with UUID {de4dc4df-3441-4b65-9471fd09d90d0003} is already attached to a machine with UUID
{f5bc6d1f-739e-40fe-8db2-d97a5a3b0782} (see '/home/suwan/.VirtualBox/Machine/XP/XP.xml').

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Machine
Interface: IMachine {1e509de4-d96c-4f44-8b94-860194f710ac
I did not change anything. Even when this happened I only had 1 single VM

Please help. I am at the end of my nerves with Virtualbox

From the Virtual Disk Manager, release the drive and attach it again to the proper VM from it's settings.

If you have only one VM, you can also remove it (leave the VDI as it is) and create a new one. Attach the existing VDI to it and make sure that the settings are the same. Note the MAC address of the previous VM and copy it to the new one, as it could cause a Windows activation.
