Unable to install 64bit guests on Ubuntu 8.10 Nehalem

Post by garnser »

Hi all,

I just did a Ubuntu amd64 installation on my Nehalem CPU. I've tried to install both Fedora 10 amd64 and Vista amd64 without success as the guests doesn't recognize my CPU as 64 bit.

$uname -a
Linux jpetersson-desk1 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

What could the issues be?

What VB version? Do you meet the hardware requirements and settings that are needed for 64 bit guests?

Turned out to be a BIOS bug, after upgrading BIOS all was dandy.

Thx.
