Hi!
Host: Ubuntu 7.10-32
VBox: 2.1.0
After starting the virtual machine from the Ubuntu64 iso and chosing to install I am shown the following message:
"This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appopriate for your CPU."
I already enabled IO APIC but it doesn't help...
Is there any explicit way of telling VBox to emulate a 64Bit processor?

Yes, read the manual. You need to explicitly enable 64-bit guest support on 32 bit processors because this involves a performance hit.
