scratchy audio input in winXP

Hi,
I am running WinXp as a Guest on a Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid system. I use the pulse audio server for all audio application and do not have any problems with it including virtualbox winXP sound output.
But the sound input in WinXp does not work very well (in ubuntu it works perfectly). When i record audio it is replayed scratchy and too fast (?).
Does anybody know how to fix that problem? My audio preferences in the winxp guest system are: Pulse audio and ac97. I use virtualbox 2.0.6
