Screen resolution starting guest in full screen

Hello -
I have VirtualBox 2.1.0 installed on Ubuntu 8.10 host, running Windows XP guest. I have Guest Additions installed, and everything appears working fine. I can switch guest with Host+F to/from full screen mode, which is 1280x1024 on my system. The small problem still still bothering me is, when starting guest (from desktop launcher) in full screen mode (non-seamless), the initial resolution is 1280x960, with black bars on top and bottom of the screen. When I Host+F it twice, it returns to full 1280x1024. It appeared to me that it may be related to space occupied by top and bottom panels on host Ubuntu desktop, but changing panels' sizes hasn't affected the black bars widths, 64 pixels both. Has anybody experienced such problem also?
