Slow Upload on Network

Hi,

I've got Virtualbox running on a Vista host with a Windows XP guest.

The network is setup for NAT and it seems to work ok but when I do a speed test, the upstream is really slow.

Is there anything I can do?

Is there a way of setting up a bridge type setup with the host so the VM is on the same network without NAT?

Thanks

Ian

You don't specify a version, but if you run 2.1.0, it's pretty easy to set it up. You just select the interface from the list in the VM settings after you changed it from NAT to Host Networking.

If you have an older version, it's a bit more work. If you use wireless to access the internet, it doesn't work. With a wired connection, you have to create an additional interface from the GUI, select it and bridge it in the Host. You select both interfaces you want to bridge, then right click on one of them and select 'Bridge connections'. Done. Now set the proper IP config if needed.

Hi,

Thankyou very much for that - I am running 2.1.0 and it seems to work a treat now I select host mode - the speedtest looks normal now.

I tried some of the other network types before posting but assumed host would be just an internal network with the host...oops!

Thanks

Ian

Upload is still slow using NAT. (VB 2.1.4 64-bit on Win7 Host with WinXP32 guest)

Attached to host-interface is an acceptable work-around, but is there any way to speed up NAT-mode?
