Host Interface Networking of VB 2.1

Post by ccjasia »

Hi,

I'm new to virtualbox. I have win2003 server as host OS and Vista as guest OS. I've set host interface attached but dosen't work

Anyone have experience of how setup to host interface networking ?

(I'm using VB 2.1) According to 2.1, seems do not need to bridge the network anymore and the setup should be simple, but I cannot make it work, anyone can advice ?

thanks in advance

I am having the exact same problem on both x64 and 32bit versions of windows server 2003. It says in the user guide that all you need to do is select host interface from the attached to field in the Network config of your virtual server. When the OS is installed and booted, the adapter shows up as expected but no traffic leaves the virtual host. You are able to ping the loopback, but nothing else works. I spend about 3 hours trying every combination I could think of and came to the conclusion it must be server 2003 and VB 2.1.0. Is 2003 not supported as a host OS? I noticed after browsing the site that it only says XP, vista, linux or Mac are supported. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
