I am running VirtualBox-2.1.0_41146_rhel5-1.x86_64 on RHEL 5. The hardware is a Q9450 Quad cpu (2..6GHZ) with 8GB ram; video card is Asus EN8400GS with 512MB with dual heads ( 22" Viewsonic @1680x1050 and 18" NEC @1280x1024). I have a Windows XP guest that runs at 1280x1024 however when I load the Window Guest additions ( both VBoxGuestAdditions 2.1 and 2.0.6) my max resolution for the XP guest is 1152x864. If I remove the guest additions video driver the resolution goes back to 1280x1024.
The other issue I have is the guest is running full screen and ignoring the r-cntr L key sequence. Is there a cli command to force it out of full screen mode?

If your monitor runs at 1280x1024 max, then the Guest will not be able to show a higher known resolution than the one just below that, because it isn't running in full screen. With the GA it should go to the max resolution when going to full screen.

As for your key combination, you mean Host + F, as Host + L will switch the VM to seamless mode. You can always call the menu (Machine, Devices, Help) with Host + Home.
