I have VB Puel 2.0.6 on Ubuntu 8.04 running (only with Sudo works) and installed XP on USB drive with guest-additons. worked everything fine until XP crashed on day. After I dont have any acces to my XP. Neither to any saved "rescue-points"
I made now new partiotin on my HD and I copied the files (XP-vdi) from the USB to it. But I cant add it as new maschine, getting error-code:

Code: Select all

cant register HD /media/disk/XP/Win-XP-VBOX.vdi

A hard disk with UUID {10fb789c-368d-4b28-a3df-549627e236d8} or with the same properties ('/media/disk/XP/Win-XP-VBOX.vdi') is already registered.

Fehlercode:   NS_ERROR_INVALID_ARG (0x80070057)
Komponente: VirtualBox
Interface:       IVirtualBox {557a07bc-e6ae-4520-a361-4a8493199137}
hope someone can help me with this

Unregister the currently registered VDI (the one on the old location) and register it from the new location.

Open the VB GUI, then hit File > Virtual Media Manager. You can manage the media from there, register and unregister.
