Winsock errors with XP guests on 64-bit Linux host

I have been experimenting with using VirtualBox to support multiple FlexLM license managers, each manager running in a Windows XP guest.

My initial test was with an earlier VirtualBox (1.6?) on a 32-bit Ubuntu Hardy host, and it worked fine, using tun/tap for static IP addresses in each guest.

I have now copied those images to a 64-bit Ubuntu Intrepid host running VirtualBox 2.1.0. The images start fine. However, each FlexLM license manager reports "System Error: 10049 'WinSock: Invalid address'" -- both from the internal server status and if you try connecting to it from a license client. This occurs whether I use static IP addresses via the new host networking or if I set up the same tun/tap setup as I had before.

The images seem to ping out fine, work as VNC servers without issue, respond as expected to nmap, etc.

Any suggestions as to where I am going wrong?

Thanks!

Correction: Hardy 64-bit host

A correction from my original post -- the new host is 64-bit Ubuntu Hardy, not Intrepid. So the differences between the old and new environments are VirtualBox editions and 32-bit vs. 64-bit hosts.

Thanks!

Please try it with 2.0.6, as there are some HIF issues with Windows Guests in 2.1.0. You have to remove VB first before you can install 2.0.6. The VMs you created need to be recreated due to the new xml format. The disk images (VDI) can of course be kept.
