I finally succeeded in installing Solaris 10 on VBox 2.1.0. It took over a minute just to bring up the desktop help file. I allocated 900mb out of a 2Gig system. Seems like that ought to be enough. When I found out Sun had a virtual machine, I was very pleased. However, after reading this forum, either I'm missing something, or VBox is at least a year away from ready for prime time. (?)
An open-source, reliable virtual machine is a critical need, equivalent in importance to Java, and for many of the same reasons. I hope Sun is giving this project the resources it needs.
