Can't start VMs after installing VirtualBox Vers. 2.1

Post by Chris4477 »

I actually updated Virtualbox to vers. 2.1 from 2.0.4. Now none of my virtual machines will start any more.

They all stops with the error-message:

Code: Select all

00:00:02.146 ERROR [COM]: aRC=E_FAIL (0x80004005) aIID={e3c6d4a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e} aComponent={Console} aText={Unknown error creating VM (VERR_INVALID_PARAMETER)} aWarning=false, preserve=false
00:00:02.165 Power up failed (vrc=VERR_INVALID_PARAMETER, rc=E_FAIL (0X80004005))
Any ideas?

Try a reinstall of 2.1.0. Remove it first, reboot then install it. See how that goes. Did you also get the message about the new config file version?

I installed 2.1.0 in the way you described it, before i posted this topic. The config files were converted (my old files are saved) the first time i started vb.

Since you have a backup, see if you really can't go without the new features (kinda hard to think about it if it doesn't want to start :P) and downgrade to 2.0.6 and wait for 2.1.2 where most bugs should be fixed.
