I have a Opensuse 10.3 server that is running VB 1.6.2 and a guest OS of Windows 2003. I wanted to upgrade to new server running Suse 11.1 and VB 2.1......

Have run into real problems getting the snapshots and difference disks to work on the new system, and to make matters worse I can no longer get the original system to boot this guest Windows 2003.

Many things confuse me, one is the snapshots reference a a disk uid tha is not present in the snapshot directory - can these be 'hidden' within a a snapshot ?

Could not find a registered disk with UID ..... is the error message.

Can you test a difference disk for integrity ?

Does a difference disk need all the snapshot 'components' to work ?

How can you combine difference disk to move it ?

Happy to pay someone to help resolve this issue.... desperate dave

We are not a paid service here, unless you buy a license from SUN, but then you wouldn't be here talking to volunteers.

Are you trying to move the whole thing to a new machine, or did you upgrade from OpenSuSE 10.3 to 11.1? How is your machine set up now? IIRC, you can add snapshots to the disk manager and to the VM. Else you have to check with the backup files of the VMs to see the old structure and recreate that in the new settings file.
