Small problem with windows Vista

Post by ochomo »

First of all big thank you VirtualBox team for Host Interface Networking on windows platform!!

I observed a small problem with networking. My Vista hides the network when the cable is unplugged. This means my virtual PC cant even connect with the host just because the cable is not connected.
But networking is OK when the cable is connected.

I am also trying to find out how to keep the NIC status for Vista as connected even when the cable is not there.

Kind regards

If you want it to stay in connected state, you have to create a so-called loopback cable. This is generally a single UTP connector with two cables crossed in it. See google for more info.

The other option is to create a MS Loopback adapter and use that as a second HIF interface for Host <> Guest communication. If you would use NAT though, you can always access the host through 10.0.2.2.
