VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED

Post by philcrane »

Just upgraded from 2.0.6 to 2.1.0 on my Windows XP system and I can no longer start my Machines. They all come back with the message:
00:00:01.796 VirtualBox 2.1.0 r41146 win.x86 (Dec 17 2008 09:43:59) release log
00:00:01.796 Log opened 2008-12-28T23:36:21.109375000Z
00:00:01.796 OS Product: Windows XP Professional
00:00:01.796 OS Release: 5.1.2600
00:00:01.796 OS Service Pack: 3
00:00:01.796 Package type: WINDOWS_32BITS_GENERIC

00:00:01.812 Power up failed (vrc=VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED, rc=E_FAIL (0X80004005))

Seems this has been a problem with other hosts for many revisions - any ideas how to fix it on an XP system?
Yes, I did reboot after doing the install.
Thanks.

Please remove VB, reboot the Host, then install VB again. Do another reboot to be sure and start a VM.
