Have you tried to repair the VB install?

Yes, I have tried many receipts I got from this forum without any success. I have to say that no VB 2.x version works on my machine, getting the same error. I have deleted all VB stuff and then installed again VB 1.6.6 and it works as used to.

Exact Same problem

I am using Acer AMD Athlon X2 3800 with Windows XP and experiencing exactly same problem, I done the process many times. Looks like Vbox doesn't like this type of processor.
I had to roll back to 2.0.6. This version works fine.

Exact Same problem

By the way- I forgot to mention that my Athlon X2 3800 processor is 64 bit while my host operating system is 32 bits.

Please try a remove of VB, reboot the machine and install the new version. Make sure that you install the version for the architecture you are running (so install the x86 file if you run a 32 bit OS, despite the 64 bit CPU).

I have done all- Total removed the previous version, it didn't work-- Installed the previous version and ran on top of the old Vbox still didn't work either.
Even if my processor is 64 bit, I am running 32 bit WinXP and I chose the 32 bit Virtual box 2.1.
