Installing Windows XP from a Recovery DVD?

Post by leeand00 »

Is it possible to install Windows xp from a Toshiba recover DVD? I can boot from the DVD, but it prompts me with a dialog box and does not let me pass:
Toshiba Recovery Utility

The machine model cannot be determined. Please enter the model number to continue.
I've even tried entering the model number of my computer (PSAA8USY102K) into the box (with and without dashes).

Thank you,

With difficulty. The reason for this is that the install carries out checks to make sure that the Windows OS is being stalled on a Toshiba. Unfortunately the VM looks different than the Toshiba bare machine and the check therefore fails.
