NAT issue on WIndows host and redhat linux5 Guest

Hai,,
i installed VB on xp host.and RH5 as guest on VM,am using NAT
i can conect to internet in guest host (ip as 10.0.2.15)
i can ping to host machine
issue is,,i cant ping from host (XP) to guest (Linux)


i tried by Host interface...still i cant ping bothways

Please help me

You can't ping a machine that is behind NAT. Only with HIF you can ping the machine, but you have to configure it properly to see it from the Host. And make sure that no firewall on the machine you want to ping is blocking that.

thanks for the info ,
i tried with HIF , and with DHCP (this is my internet DHCP) ,in this case,
am getting ip from internet DHCP to my Virtual guest , i can ping from host to guest and guest to host
but ,
if i want to make my own network with out DHCP , HIF is not happening,,,,with Guest to Host pining
please provide any doc"

simha.chow, you might want to browse the Forum Posting Guide. This contains some useful tips on how to search for VBox knowledge and how to frame Qs.
