Hello,
I used VB-OSE before, and everything was OK. I created a Vista guest from DVD and it worked OK. Now because of the missing USB I deinstalled the old VB and installed the VB-PUEL.
But now, no guest is able to see any CD/DVD-Rom. In the VB settings I enabled the correct DVD-ROM with path trough (as before) but it does not show up in my Vista guest, and even if I try to create any new guest it wont boot from any CD/DVD :?: .
My host ist Ubuntu 8.10 64bit.

Hope someone does have any idea.

Hey all,
today I tried to deinstall the "guest additions", and afterwards the problem was fixed. I found the DVD-ROM inside the hardware manager :!:
So, the problem was caused by the "VB guest additions". Unfortunately I didn't found any workarount yet. Does anyone have any idea :?:

Did you install the GA on the Host? The name should say enough that it's not meant for the Host, but the Guest VM.

The GA in a Guest should not cause problems for the boot process of the VM.

Sorry if my explanation wasn't clearly.
I do have Ubuntu 8.10 (46bit) as host, and Vista 32 Business as guest VM.The "VB guest additions" have been installed on the guest (Vista).
My problem to boot any new guest from CD-Rom still exists.

Problem solved. Now that I got the first replay, I started again to play around. Finally I found the problem. It was just a setting:
After deaktivation of 'Passthrough' for the CD-ROM, I could boot from any CD-ROM again. Also my Vista guest VM recognised the CD-ROM. There is no problem with the 'VB Guest additions' anymore

Thanks,
Wolle
