Host - WinXP, PC-Cillin Internet Security 2007
Guest - WinXP
I installed vbox 2.1.0 and am using the new host interface for networking a WinXP guest. The guest is able to obtain an ip addresss via DHCP from my router, but internet access is blocked by the host's firewall. Disabling the host's firewall allows the guest to access the internet.
Is there a way to allow the guest to access the internet without disabling the firewall or opening it wide up to allow all internet access? Maybe a vbox process that handles the new host interface that can be added to the safe programs list?
Thanks in advance,
Jon
v2.1.0 Host firewall blocking guest internet access
Solution?
This appears to be a quirk of PC-Cillin. After checking the personal firewall logs, I discovered that enabling outgoing TCP on port 80 allowed the guest to access the internet. Changing the protection level on the personal firewall to low also worked.
Neither of these seem like the ideal solution to the problem, but at least they work.
