2.1.0 - Host Interface Networking on dummy0

Post by MacJL »

Hello,

In Virtualbox 2.0.6, I used to do Host Networking on a dummy0 interface. With this method, I was able to do complex NAT between guest and host. But with 2.1.0, I can't do that anymore.

If I choose the dummy0 interface in host interface, networks packets does'nt seem to be tranfered between the hos and the guest.

Is it possible to do a such thing, or must I return to 2.0.6 ?

You should still be able to use a virtual interface like tap0 for this.

Then you might need to bring up the tap interface yourself (through scripts or the baselayout of your distribution). I can confirm that you can still attach host networking to a tap interface, as I have done that myself now... (though it still doesn't behave as the 2.0.6 implementation)
