The host computer has an NVIDIA nForge Network Controller installed and I've tried all adapter options that VB gives me using NAT:
- Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop
- Intel PRO/1000 T Server
- PCnet-PCI II
- PCnet-FAST III

I've tried using DHCP or static (except I'm not quite sure what the static settings should be). For static settings I used:
ip: 10.0.2.15
gw: 10.0.2.2
dns: 10.0.2.2

I've also tried several other distros:
DSL, Ubuntu Intrepid, Debian Etch but it appears to be the same result. The device is installed but I can't get out.

Thanks!

The DNS should be 10.0.2.3. It's not recommended to change the config to static when using NAT.

It's possible that the firewall that is supplied with your network card is blocking the traffic. Remove it completely, not just disable it, and it should be working again.

I set the NIC back to DHCP and turned off my windows firewall. I also looked for a firewall the comes with my nForce card but I couldn't see anything of the sort. Still the same result.

Hmm I wonder what else would be stopping communication between VB and the nic?
