Accessing Samba Shares in 2.1?

Hi All,

I have been using virtualbox with a windows xp host and fedora guest. In the past I shared folders from the guest to the host using samba where I had a second network card on the guest with a private ip that was attached to the host via a host interface which I gave another private ip on the same subnet. Now since upgrading to 2.1 my host interface is gone and I can't seem to figure out how to access my samba shares any more... Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Michael

Select the physical interface from the list of available interfaces. Now you can set a second IP on the interface and have the same connectivity again.

I assume you mean in windows? If so how do you I still use DHCP on the device?

Thanks!

That depends. Do you use DHCP on your network, or is everything set statically? Is the DHCP on your network a private address range, or one of your ISP directly? You can set a second IP statically on the Host, and put the same range on your Guest like you always had.
The new HIF requires that, in your case, you add a second IP to the physical interface, instead of useing a virtual interface.
