2.1.0 & OpenSolaris guest - cut and paste no longer work

Post by julianct »

I've been running OpenSolaris 2008.11 snv_101b (and previously 2008.05) as a VirtualBox guest for a while now (host is Windows XP SP2).

The upgrade to VBox 2.1.0 has some nice networking improvements (thanks! :) ), but unfortunately the cut and paste between the Windows host and OpenSolaris appears to have stopped working.

I've verified that the "Shared Clipboard" is configured as "Bidirectional", and I've also upgraded the SUNWvboxguest to 2.1.0 on the guest, but this hasn't helped. I can confirm that the VBoxClient and VBoxService processes are running on the guest, and indeed other features (like full screen) are working fine.

In earlier versions of VBox I've had issues where cut & paste stopped working after a while, or became erratic, but a reboot of the guest usually fixed it.

Anyone else seeing this?

I am having the same issue with Fedora 10 guest on Win XP SP3 host with virtualbox 2.1

The clipboard worked for some time, and then just stopped working, and no longer works.

Similarly, with the same setup on virtualbox 2.0.6 the clipboard would stop working, but would work again with a reboot of the guest.

I found the answer in another thread. There is an easy workaround, and a bug has been filed.

Still broken in 2.1.2

Thanks for the bug reference - I see that it's marked as fixed in 2.1.2, but I'm still seeing the same problem in this version (with the 2.1.2 guest additions installed of course!).

Time for some more digging...
