Hi,

I install VirtualBox on Xubuntu 8.10. But I notice that when guest window is opened, its title bar is missing. Actually it shows very briefly than disappears.

What's wrong ?

Hi,

Thanks for your links.

Unfortunately the links point to problem that exists if Compiz-Fusion is enabled.

I don't even have Compiz-Fusion installed.

Does not matter, Gnome uses Compiz-Gnome instead, which does the same thing. Disable the desktop effects to disable Compiz.

I use Xubuntu which uses XFCE as its window manager, not Gnome.

I have Xubuntu too, and I did encounter it once or twice. The problem was that the window was drawn too big, and because it doesn't allow windows to be drawn lower than the bottom of the screen, it continues to use the space from above. Check your VM Tweaks settings, there is an option to set a key for moving windows with the mouse. Hold that key, click inside the problematic window and drag it down.

If that is not the issue, then check if your Window Manager is actually started. Open a terminal, or hit Alt+F2 and enter xfwm4. When ran from a terminal, don't close the terminal as it will close the process.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions.

I tried your suggestions by using Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Down to drag window down, it didn't move an inch. The window sticks on the top left corner.

I also tried by entering 'xfwm4' from console and nothing happened.

Do you have the problem with other Qt applications? Maybe your missing something. Have you asked on the Ubuntu forums about this? I know that with Compiz-Fusion, some apps do not always display properly. It's possible that some maximized windows do the same on Xfce native. Haven't seen it myself though.

I'm locking this one, as there is a similar thread going on here http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=12579 with other users having the issue. Please continue there.
