Idea to overcome Trojan - Am I correct?

Post by sithick »

Hi

At present, i am not using Virtual Box. But i have idea about it.

I have problem. When i browse thro' net and install some software, my system get affected by Trojan & other malware. Even though, i use better antivirus software, it also get infected.

To overcome this, I decide to install Windows Xp guest on Windows XP itself. So that, if i browse internet in Guest XP and any malware installed automatically in guest XP will not affect my Host XP. So, my system will be safe.

Am i correct? Suggestion please....

Have a look in the manual at the 'immutable' option, with this you can install anything on your guest and run it for awhile before doing the same to your real machine.

A small hint about running guests and installing questionable stuff, with at least vista as host you can create outbound firewall rules, a rule blocking port 25(destination,any for local) will help prevent almost anything from escaping from your vm.
