automounting USB and CD in XP guest

Post by AdrianTM »

I'd like to make the virtual machine smooth experience as possible for this I need to make USB devices and CDs mount automatically. Is it possible?

XP guest on Vista host (don't ask!).

Thanks.

If you use an empty USB filter, any new USB device should be grabbed automatically by VB if the VM has focus. However, this does not always happen.

As for the CD, that is not possible. You can select the Host drive though, but I do no know how it handles a media change. There was a user here who said it didn't detect the change. Just try and you will see if it does or not.

Thanks, I added an empty filter but didn't seem to work, will test more...
As for the CD that's right, even if you eject it from host it still display the old content and doesn't detect a new CD.

I was afraid of the cd issue. Maybe there is already a bug reported on this. Hopefully, it will be addressed asap.

Even more, the CD shows as mounted by default and it shows as Audio CD that has a Track00.cda file inside... so I actually have to manually unmount that and mount the actual CD.
