Sending keyboard input to guest

Hi, I am using the VB 2.0.6 with XP host and guest (guest additions installed) and have hit a stumbling block. I am trying to setup some automation using VB and am having a problem sending key commands though to the guest.

I am using SendInput to achieve this. Mouse commands are going through fine, key commands seem to be ignored. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere or does anyone have any ideas?

I feel the issue is VB configuration as the automation app runs fine standalone.
