host <--> guess os

hay, i need a very simple step by step to guide me connecting between host to guess os.
please i allready read the manual, i dont get it. or maybe you can drop me to the right thread. thank you very very much

VBox Version: VirtualBox+Oracle ExtPack
Guest OSses: Windows XP, Windows 7, Linux
Location: /dev/random

You need to set up a Host Interface Network. Follow the manual, set a static address on the interface in the Host and Guest. Do not set them the same, but in the same range (like ending one with 1, while the other ends with 2). You don't need a bridge, as you don't want the VM to be a part of the network.
