Virtualbox Guests Keep disconnecting from internet

Post by cryblood3 »

while i love virtualbox, it keeps disconnecting from the internet...i will be working on a guest and after i either shut it down or save state when i boot it back up it will not connect back up to the internet...the network icon will say there is still a network device (inside the guest) however when i open up a browser it says page cannot be displayed...i have had this problem mostly in windows but a few times in linux (ubuntu) any help would be appreciated, thanks

Tim

ps: to reconnect to the internet i must reset (unplug and plug back in) my dsl and then it will reconnect

ps1: it appears when one guest's network goes down all of them will not connect nomatter the guest os

Does you Host still have internet? Does the Host change it's DNS over time? Please give more info about your network and what happens on the Host.

Try using a VirtualBox Host Interface in the client, then it should work the same way as if the VM was a physical machine on the network.

Otherwise maybe your router is configured weirdly. I can only recommend to be sure DHCP is on and make sure your VMs are getting IP information via DHCP,
