Re: VB on Windows XP Pro - SP3

Post by houstonpcguy »

Hey Everyone,

I have VirtualBox Latest (2.0.6 I think) installed on a Windows XP Pro Machine, AMD x64 Dual Core, 4 gb memory, 300 gb hd, Nvidia Geforce 8400gs, Dual layer DVD/CD LightScribe Burner.

My problem is that usually when I create a vm/container the nic get's set as nat and works fine. This time I created a vm (Ubuntu 8.10 Server) and it gave itself an ip of 10.0.2.15 however it is not communicating to the inet or the host machine actually. Does anyone know how I can fix this.

Just a FYI, I already tried to bridge in Internal Network mode and it didn't work, However I haven't tried host mode yet.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

See the Forum FAQ for any firewalls that might give a problem. The IP 10.0.2.15 is correct for NAT. It's more likely that your VM is blocked. It's also possible that the primary DNS on your system is not working as it should. See if you can access the IP of a website. The FAQ also notes that.
