VirtualBox and ASUS EPU Engine

I am using VirtualBox (Ubuntu 64-guest on Vista 64) on a Core i7 920 equipped with an Asus P6T MB.
Asus bundles a set of utilities, one of which is the EPU-6 engine, which can be set to automatically over/underclock the machine depending on the load. EPU has a series of modes (Rocket, high, moderate, max-power saving and auto).
I am mostly interested in keeping the machine quiet, and likes to have EPU underclock the machine (and fans). However, it seems that everytime I (or auto mode) switch EPU-mode VirtualBox dies with the dreaded "VirtualBox.exe has stopped working".
This is bearable, but slightly annoying, and could probably be mentioned in the manual or detected by the installer? Even better, Virtualbox could just handle it
