Hi everyone.
Does anyone knows if the modules for kernel 2.6.24-22-generic are already available? On Ubuntu 8.04, I keep getting the same error (kernel driver not installed) and I can't get the modules from any repository. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

This is what i did and worked for me:
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose-source
then run
sudo module-assistant
when you enter the dialog chose SELECT option
select virtualbox-ose press ok
then, BUILD and last INSTALL
Hope this will help[/code]

theroretically, if you dont want them erased just copy them into a backup folder on the desktop, thats what i did to get it working, either that or get 8.10 i use that at home

Meanwhile, I found another option: loading the previous kernel version lets me start up virtualbox normally. Although this is more like a band-aid, I think it works fine for people who don't want to risk that procedure and use XP only once in a while, like me.
Thanks anyway.

I installed virtualbox-ose from Synaptic Package Manager.
Then I ran the command lines as taske mentioned.
When I open VirtualBox and select the Virtual machine I created I get the following error message:
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you run Hardy or Intrepid? If you run Hardy, then please use the PUEL version. The OSE from Hardy is really outdated, version 1.5.6. If you prefer stability over bleading edge, install 2.0.6 else you can try 2.1.0.
The PUEL version won't be bothered with the kernel module issues, as a simple
sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup should be enough to fix it (if you have the proper packages for creating kernel modules installed).
