USB Problem (Windows XP on Windows Vista)

Post by Jamiez »

Okay, I have Windows Vista on my Laptop as an operating system and i installed Windows XP as a Virtual Machine. The reason for this is because i have a USB Webcam that has no drivers for Vista. So i thought i could install XP as a VM and isntall Windows Live Messenger and Webcam drivers on there and use my Webcam, How ever i thought wrong.

When i plug my USB camera in the VM auto gives this error.

then when i manually select the USB camera from the USB Device menu i get this error

It will allow me to plug in USB Storage Devices but as soon as the USB Camera is plugged in thoughs are the errors i get.

Thanks
Jamie.

Even if you would get it working (you need the USB drivers supplied with VB, by default selected during installation), you will get a black window. Just search the forums for 'webcam' for more informaton.

See the manual for any USB issues you might have on Windows. If you can't get it to work (use a simple USB stick first), come back here.
