attach Vbox to physical NIC

Hello all

i have windows server with 4 network cards ,
i want to install Vbox with fedora on the server and attach it to one of the physical cards

tried many ways but not working fine

can any one suggest how this can be done ?

After creating the virtual interface from the VM settings, you simply select both interfaces, right click on either of them then select "Bridge Connections". Windows will now bridge the connection.

However, some Windows Server 2003 versions don't have this option. IIRC, Windows Server 2003 Small Business can't bridge connections. Enterprise can bridge.

allright

but where to add the fixed IP ?

on windows bridge or from the virtual linux or on the virtual NIC ?


and if windows server didn't have such option what is the solution i can use to start a VBox on this machine ?

For the Host, you set the IP on the bridge, that is the only place where you can set it anyway. And of course you also need to configure your Guest for the network.

As for connecting your Guest if your Host cannot bridge, you have to attach it to NAT if you want to to be able to access the internet. You can forward ports if you want to run a few services on the Guest. See the manual for how to do that. Just make sure that the ports do not interfere with the Host.
