floppy write protected

Is there a way to disable or change the write protected status of the floppy drive? I've searched for a while on the forums and the net and haven't seen any method to do so.
Is this just a setting in the VB configuration file? If so where would that file be?
Thanks

What is the exact error you get? Is the floppy itself write-protected? There should be no reason why it's read only.

There are a variety of errors I get depending on the program I use. Generally it's something like "Write protect error writing to drive A". I actually don't have a floppy drive and am just using an IMG file on my host computer.

What's your guest OS ? Is the IMG file a read-only file ?

Guest os is XP and host is Vista. The file is definitely not write protected. The only way I found to make it work so far is to do a quick format and transfer the files within the first 20-30 seconds. After that it goes write protected. I've tried using different IMG's in different directories and many different files.
Idk weird problem

Sounds to me like your getting a file-share violation because another process is reading the file. If your virus scanner kicking in or something like that?
