Remote Desktop Authentication Error Code 5

Post by LesDes »

I have a VM with Remote Display enabled with Authentication set to Null and that works fine - I can start Remote Desktop from within my network.

I now want to be able to do this remotely so I have set the Authentication Method to External which I understant should authenticate

Now when I start Remote Desktop from within my network I get an error code 5 - your remote desktop session is about to end.

Running W2000 Pro in VB v 1.6.6

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

So I upgraded to 2.0.4 (I'll leave out the paid caused by that)

Now I get two errors:

1. Your Remote Desktop session has ended
2. Fatel Error (Error Code 5) - your Remote Desktop session is about to end.

I have also tested this on a VM running XP with the same results.

I have just found an other thread [Unable to connect from windows RDP to VRDP] which reports the same problem and gives a solution.

I have also tried to connect from outside the network and that also worked fine, but in that instance the Remote Desktop screen did not have a check box for "Allow me to save credentials" but worked anyway.
