[SOLVED] Little request for managing VDI disk space
Posted: 31. Mar 2026, 22:49
Hi everyone, I have a personal request, but I hope it helps. I use three Windows 11 VMs on a host PC with Linux Mint, and they're working perfectly (thank you). Periodically, when the VMs automatically shut down, they run a script that cleans them up a bit, but obviously the VDI disk remains at the used level. Would it be possible to add an option to the VM settings, such as "run this command upon shutdown"? That way, after the "internal cleanup" with zerofill, I could create a "squeezeme.now" file in a shared folder and tell the script to run "if squeeze exists, then Vboxmanage --compact [diskname]" and report a decent size. I don't have much free space. Thanks for your attention.
