The Virtualbox native DHCP support doesn't offer DHCP service for an entire LAN including dozens of devices needing reservations that will be on a LAN such as Iot, CCTV, etc. ISC-DHCP is no longer a thing, and ISC-KEA is way too f*cking complex and difficult for a small network. DNSMASQ does not run on Virtualbox except if VB is set up for "host-Only" with makes it useless.
I have no clue why DNSMASQ can't run under bridged mode, but it can't. I was able to run ISC-DHCP flawlessly under VB when it was still available. So why DNSMASQ can't is beyond frustrating.
In any case, there exists a need for true native DHCP via a FOS, GNU or like code under a VB Linux guest. Is there a way to fix the DNSMASQ issue? Are there other options?
