Does VirtualBox work on MacBook Intel?

Post by PatJDixon »

On Aug 17 I posted that Win11 on my MacBook Pro is extremely slow. There were no responses. Also, I have big problems getting Win10 and Win7 iso files from VMWare Fusion to work in VirtualBox. My machine is Intel (see attachment). Is that the problem?

1. Yes - VirtualBox does work on an intel Mac, for some definition of work.

2. Looking at the log you posted earlier, you could try lowering the number of CPus to 2 (you can easily increase this again) and also reducing the memory allocation of your VM to 6GB. You only have just over 8GB free in the host OS so you maybe should leave a little more headroom.

3. To load the Guest Additions iso, start your VM then in the host Devices menu for the VM you will see a menu item for attaching the GAs to the VM. Once attached you can mount the image in your guest OS and run the installer.
