Hi multiOS,

Thanks for the additional reference as it was interesting to see some of the underworkings of the Virtualbox development process. I can see that both branches are under active development which is good to know. Given that the 7.2.x branch is under the Development snapshots category, am I to assume this means that the 7.2.x branch overall is considered unstable at this point, or is it a little more complicated than that?

No, both supported branches are considered ''stable' (or, probably, as stable as any software can be when needing to hit a range of constantly changing targets). It's simply that the 'Development snapshot' category hasn't been amended since the initial launch of the 7.2 Branch.

Speaking as another user, like yourself, the 7.2.x releases are less mature than 7.1.xx, but do bring a range of new modifications not available in 7.1.xx, including changes to the VirtualBox Manager interface and improved support for ARM64 platforms. If you don't need/want those features, then there is no problem currently in remaining with 7.1.xx other than that there seems to be a slightly longer wait for maintenance updates; and therefore a greater need to consider trying the Development Builds if/when problems are experienced.
