Error When Setting Up Serial Devices

Post by Bigdog0016 »

I attempted to port through my serial device from Windows vista to my guest system which is Windows 2000. I put in a bad path for the port and it returned the following error message when I tried to start the operating system:

Unknown error creating VM.

VBox Status Code: -1(VERR_GENERAL_FAILURE).

Result Code: E_Fail (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {e3c6d4a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e}

Then I tried to disable the serial port by unchecking the box, and now any change i try to make in the settings for the VM do not stay and it gives me the following error Message:

Assertion failed at 'C:
\vbox\branch\w32-2.0\src\VBox\Main\MachineImpl.cpp'

I have quite a bit of software installed on this machine and don't want to have to reinstall everything all over again. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem??
