USB Devices

Post by Orbital »

Why is it that I get this same error over and over and over.
It seems that any USB device that I try to use within VirtualBox
throws up this error. It's like the device is busy and won't
let it be used. The error occurs when I try to put the black
check beside the USB Device.

One of the Errors:

Here is what I have done to try to make my USB devices work.
Maybe I've done something wrong? Could someone
tell me the correct way to make USB devices work?

I had the same problem. No access to USB-devices (specifically the USB disk) from within the virtual machine (not from native rescue CDs nor any guest OS).

It was solved however by enabling "IO APIC" in the setup/configuration for the virtual machine I was using (makes sense as it truly is IO related...).

I am also troubled by that issue. May I ask how you achieved the enabling of the IO APIC? Did you reinstall the windows guest? The manual says enabling this option after installation does not have any effect, as the hal will be changed by nothing but a new installation of the os. So is that what you did?

If I have to I will do that because it is essential to me to be able to use a usb-dongle. That is why I'd very much like to know if this really solved the problem that does not seem to be very rare, if you believe google.

Thanks,
Xenia
