hi,

I have installed solaris 5.11 as guest on my windows vista Home premium host. Everything works fine except sound. Can you help me in getting the sound working?

My system configuration:

Sony Vaio VGNCR363
Sound card : Real tech high definition audio

Virtualbox version: 2.0.4

regards

What setting for Audio do you have for the Guest? Is sound detected and installed? Check that first, then come back here with the results.

I have installed oss-solaris-v4.0-1016-i386 , rebooted and done an osstest. But still no sound even thought the test says ok. . Increased the volume to 100% and the sound device is detected as" Unknown Volume Control 1 (sun audio mixer)"

Virtual box audio settings are

Host Driver: Null audio driver
Controller : ICH AC97

# osstest
Sound subsystem and version: OSS 4.0 (b1016/200806171344) (0x00040003)
Platform: SunOS/i86pc 5.11 snv_101

*** Scanning sound adapter #-1 ***
/dev/oss/ich0/pcm0 (audio engine 0): Intel ICH (2415)
Note! Device is in use (by PID 0/VMIX) but will try anyway

What other result do you expect with "Null Audio Driver" on the Host?

Its like a bulb without electricity :)
